frequently asked questions

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) is a holistic health profession that helps people of all ages engage more fully in the activities that matter to them. OT supports emotional well-being, builds routines, strengthens relationships, and helps navigate life’s transitions. By addressing the connection between mind, body, and environment, occupational therapy aims to create more balance, function, and ease in everyday life.

What makes occupational therapy different from counselling or traditional therapy?

Occupational therapy supports your ability to engage in everyday activities that matter, like managing emotions, routines, and relationships. Unlike traditional talk therapy, OT looks at how you (the person), your environment, and the activities you want to do all interact. This approach, called the Person-Environment-Occupation (PEO) model, helps create personalized strategies that fit your unique life and improve your overall functioning and well-being.

How is your approach unique?

My approach is holistic and relationship-based, rooted in psychology, nervous system science, and lived experience. I strongly value psychoeducation and believe that understanding why we feel or respond in a certain way can be deeply empowering. Sessions are collaborative and shaped by your goals, with a focus on connection, function, and ease in everyday life. I also incorporate lifestyle and routine-based support when helpful.

What does neurodivergence mean here?

Neurodivergence simply means you experience and process the world differently, and that difference is respected and welcomed here. Whether you’re navigating ADHD, Autism, sensory sensitivity, anxiety, or something else entirely (with or without a formal diagnosis), there’s no pressure to change who you are.

Support is never about fixing; it’s about understanding your nervous system, embracing your strengths, and working with your lived experience. Together, we explore what helps you feel safe, connected, and supported in your body, relationships, and daily routines.

How do you support clients with Autism or neurodivergent needs?

I’ve supported neurodivergent clients across the lifespan, from toddlers showing early signs of Autism to teens and young adults navigating school, work, or daily routines. My work draws on occupational therapy and centers on emotional regulation, sensory strategies, and everyday functioning.

For caregivers, I offer consultative support rooted in co-regulation and connection-based strategies. While I don’t provide behavioural therapy or formal diagnostic assessments, I offer personalized, strengths-based care grounded in safety, clarity, and respect.

Do you provide behavioural therapy or Autism assessments?

No, I do not provide behavioural therapy or clinical Autism assessments. My work is consultative and focused on connection-based support, sensory strategies, and everyday functioning through an occupational therapy lens. I support clients and caregivers with practical, personalized strategies to navigate daily life and emotional challenges.
